What About Me?

 Outline

Life can be so full and move so quickly. Sometimes, amidst the complexity of life, it can be easy to feel small and insignificant: life can feel like something that is happening to us, rather than something in which we are an active participant. From time to time, all of us need to stop and ask the question ‘What about me’?

In order to take control, avoid harmful situations, and make the most of our life, we need to understand who we are and where we are going. It’s also important to see where we fit into our community and the role we can play in the lives of those around us.

What about me… who am I?

                        What’s important to me?

What guides the values I have?

What do I want to achieve?

What about me… where am I headed?

How do I know what direction to take?

What goals do I need to set to get there?

What if it’s not easy?

What about me… what if I feel left out?

How do I cope with rejection?

                        How do I build resilience?

How do I recognise true friends?

What about me… can I dare to dream?

                        What dreams are worth dreaming?

How can I be sure I’m not following someone else’s dream?

How do I make my dreams come true?

How can I share my dreams with others?

Each of us can celebrate the fact that we are unique individuals. Knowing who we really are makes it possible to make sense of what is happening around us and allows us to embrace life with confidence and set goals that are achievable. Understanding our place in the community can let us use our uniqueness to impact positively on those around us. At a time when society is looking for young people to take a stance and to show leadership and commitment to those around them, it may be time to face up to the role we can play and say ‘What about me?’

okays, so i'm in year 11. and this has really...reached out and grabbed me by the collar and threw me to the wall. even though i knew what was going to be in it because i saw it in the previous year, it still really made me want to cry. the feeling that im just so, pathetically useless to the world; as i cant make a difference to the world; it kills me. btw, i'm a guy. the cinematics are superb although. enjoyed the music.
